Our Joining Process
Step 1: Research: Explore the ALC educational model and Learn more about Self-Directed Education to understand the underlying philosophy of our project. Follow us on Facebook, to get a sense of the project and see the day-to-day in action.
Step 2: Attend an interested parents evening: a space to ask questions, meet us and other interested parents.
Step 3: Family Tour: Attend a family tour of our site. Come with your children to meet us and see our beautiful site with the children and families currently part of our community. This will usually be at 3pm on a Thursday, the end of the Green House week.
Step 4: Apply: First complete our enrolment form, Agile Learner Agreement and Family Agreement. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Step 5: Family alignment Meeting: We’ll reach out after we get your enrolment application to let you know if there is a place available or if you’ll be added to our waiting list. We'd like to meet both parents (if applicable) on a zoom video call. During this conversation we will gain a clearer sense if we are all aligned in terms of moving forward and we'll all have the opportunity to ask questions. We ask for a payment of £40 towards the cost of this meeting. This pays for one or both facilitators to attend and learn more about your child.
Step 6: Half a term together and reflection. If we are all feeling aligned after the family site conversation, we’ll invite you and your child to join us. This will initially be for six weeks with a check-in at the end. This is to allow your family enough time to experience what it is like to be here and to enable us to make sure our community can effectively support and integrate you and your family. A refundable deposit of six weeks and the fees for six weeks need to be paid at this point before the first day of term. If you have any questions please let us know.
Step 7: Final Enrolment: If at the check in we are all still in alignment then the process of enrolment can be completed by paying another six weeks worth of deposit making it a total refundable deposit of twelve weeks.
