There are 848 different languages.
It is the second largest island in the world.
The main resources are cocoa, coffee, palm oil, prawns, crayfish and copper.
Most people live rurally (in the countryside) with only 18% of people living in urban areas (cities and towns).
The children formed some more questions that they wanted to research below:
Caspar: What are the national languages? What is hello and goodbye in one of these languages?
Sam: What type of bird is it on the flag?
Beth: Are there any cultural stories that we can share and remember?
Curtis: What is the traditional food they eat?
Lewella: Why do they live in tree houses?
Henry: There was a volcano we learnt that erupted 10 years ago and destroyed a city, what happened?
Caspar also wanted to find some images of the unexplored bits (which is most of it apparently!)
Happy researching! Be ready to share in our morning circle some of your discovery. Oh and don't forget to bring in any feathers, material etc. you would like to add to the group headdress.
